A special screening of acclaimed filmmaker Golam Rabbani’s short films Churot and Untang is set to take place at ADFA.
Organisers said the event will feature more than just film screenings, with a small exhibition of props used in the films and live sessions featuring songs from the movies.
Following the screenings, audiences will have the opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session with director Golam Rabbani and actors Naushaba Ahmed, Prasoon Azad and Mizanur Rahman.
Organised by the Bangladesh Advertising Filmmakers Association (ADFA), the special screening will be held on 30 July at 6pm in Niketan.
The two short films feature Mizanur Rahman, Naushaba Ahmed, Prasoon Azad, Chandana Biswas, Zainal Abedin and Manik Saha, among others.
Based on the fundamental right to freedom of expression and speech, Untang was made in early 2024. Meanwhile, Churut, released in 2023, explores the story of the many identities and complexities within human nature.
Earlier, both films received Honourable Mention awards at several international festivals, including the Venice Intercultural Film Festival, Budapest Film Festival, Dhaka International Film Festival and Bogura International Film Festival.
Golam Rabbani’s filmography has also gained international recognition. His short film Nishi became the first Bangladeshi film to win the prestigious 35th Environmental Media Association (EMA) Award in the United States.
His film Shatar also won awards in three categories at the ‘One Minute Environmental Film Festival 2026’.
Another short film directed by Rabbani, titled Stitch Life, is currently awaiting release.
ADFA is a professional organisation for advertising and film directors that works towards skill development, creative exchange and the growth of film culture.
The organisation is led by convener Adnan Al Rajeev.
Working members include Russell Shikder, Shankha Das Gupta, Mustafi Shimul, Samiur Rahman, Sabrina Irin, Nishan Mahmud and Mahmudul Hasan Adnan, who collectively oversee its activities.
