Phil Foden shone in Manchester City’s 4-1 win over Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League. His two goals kept City unbeaten after four matches.
City manager Pep Guardiola praised him. He said Foden is back and called him a special player.
The win moved City to fourth place. They are now only two points behind Bayern Munich, Arsenal and Inter.
Dortmund started well. They pressed high and forced City back. But everything changed in the 22nd minute. Foden scored with a low shot from the edge of the box. Erling Haaland added another goal seven minutes later after a cross from Jeremy Doku. City then took full control of the game.
Dortmund struggled to deal with City’s speed. Their goalkeeper Gregor Kobel had to make several saves before the break.
Foden scored again in the 57th minute. His shot found the same corner and made it 3-0. Dortmund pulled one back when Waldemar Anton volleyed in from a short free kick. They pushed hard after that. Karim Adeyemi came close twice, but could not score.
Substitute Rayan Cherki finished the match with a late goal in stoppage time.
City have now gone six European home games without defeat. They are in a strong position to progress. Next, they face Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen. Dortmund will try to bounce back when they host Villarreal later this month.
