Five more people have died from dengue fever in the past 24 hours. During this period, 792 people have been admitted to hospitals with dengue.
These figures were disclosed in a press release issued on Saturday by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The DGHS said the latest figures cover the 24-hour period from 8am Friday to 8am Saturday.
During this time, 783 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals nationwide, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 80,243.
Since January, 83,858 people have been hospitalised with dengue, and 331 have died from the disease so far this year.
For reference, from January to 31 December 2024, a total of 101,214 dengue patients were hospitalised and 575 died of dengue.
Earlier, from 1 January to 31 December 2023, a total of 1,705 people died of dengue and 321,179 patients were hospitalised that year.
