A crocodile was caught in a longline fishing hook while fishermen were fishing in the Padma River at Charbhadrasan, Faridpur.
Charbhadrasan Police Station SI Kazi Ripon Hossain confirmed the matter on Monday. As news of the capture spread, hundreds of people flocked to the Kazibari Ghat area to see the crocodile.
The fishermen were identified as Swapan Bepari, 40, Sagar Bepari, 48, Billal Khan, 60, and Sheikh Elias, 40. They were fishing in the river using a longline when the crocodile became trapped. Then they rescued the animal, tied it with ropes, and brought it to the shore.
SI Ripon said we quickly took up positions at the ghat to ensure that no one harmed the crocodile.
Charbhadrasan Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Shuraiya Mamtaz said, “After being informed of the matter, the wildlife conservation officials of the Forest Department were notified. They will come and take the crocodile away.”
