A fire broke out on the third floor of an 11-storey commercial building opposite the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur-2 on Monday afternoon.
Anwarul Islam, warehouse inspector of the Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the blaze originated on the third floor of LA Plaza.
Authorities received the emergency call at 1:52 pm, and the first firefighting unit reached the scene at 1:58 pm.
Initially, five units were deployed to contain the fire, while two additional units were dispatched shortly afterward.
The fire service members have rescued three more women from the building, raising the total number of people rescued to seven.
A branch of Pubali Bank Limited is located in the building, according to local sources.
The cause of the fire and the extent of damage were not immediately known.
No casualties had been reported at the time of filing this report, while firefighters continued their efforts to fully control the blaze.
