While Bangladeshi cinema has recently been gaining international recognition—screened, discussed, and awarded beyond national borders—there were no film trade magazine in Bangladesh that met global standards when it came to discussing the magic of movies and art of filmmaking. Until Cut to Cinema, a film magazine based in Bangladesh. As an English-language trade magazine of international standards, it is the first of its kind in Bangladesh.
The magazine’s editor and publisher, Bidhan Rebeiro, stated that Cut to Cinema, often shortened to C2C, constantly strives produce

a world-class publication that reflects the global film landscape.
Bidhan said, “Abroad, we have magazines like The Hollywood Reporter, Variety, and Sight & Sound. These publications don’t just cover their own cinema—they also give importance to international film news. We didn’t have anything like that in our country. Cut to Cinema was born from that sense of absence.”
Cut to Cinema is being published every month, with three issues already released, and renowned film critics and scholars around the world contributing to its success through rich articles, in-depth reviews, and engaging infotainment. The latest issue highlighted the 78th Cannes Film Festival, for which several writers sent exclusive pieces for publication. Within a short span of time, the magazine already enjoys widespread attention.
One of Bidhan’s vision for the magazine is for it to not only inspire discourse amongst local readers on foreign films but also to present Bangladeshi cinema to a global audience. To fulfill said vision, the magazine operates on both print edition and an online website.
According to Cut to Cinema’s marketing manager, Ahmed Himu, the response since its launch has been overwhelmingly positive. He also noted that reader demand is steadily increasing. The magazine’s advisory board includes Ahmed Muztaba Zamal, director of the Dhaka International Film Festival, while Ayesha Akhter serves as the Chief Executive Officer.
