FIFA has announced its first video game release in four years, titled FIFA ‘Heroes’, a fast-paced arcade-style football title aimed at a new generation of players.
The game marks FIFA’s return to the gaming market following its split from EA after ‘FIFA 23’. While EA has continued its football series under the EA Sports FC banner, FIFA is now taking a different direction with a more casual and imaginative approach.
FIFA Heroes will feature five-a-side matches with exaggerated gameplay and a mix of real-life footballers, World Cup 2026 mascots and fictional characters such as Thor and Sun Wukong. Players will be able to use special abilities including teleportation, powerful shots and magnetic tackles, adding a fantasy element to the sport.
According to publisher Solace, the focus is on quick, high-energy matches designed to appeal to a broader audience rather than traditional simulation gameplay.
The free-to-play title is set to launch on April 28 for mobile and PC, with releases on Xbox, PlayStation and Nintendo Switch to follow.
FIFA also revealed plans for a separate exclusive game on Netflix tied to the upcoming men’s World Cup, aiming to bring a more accessible football experience to fans worldwide.
