BCB vice-president Faruque Ahmed wants to rebuild ties with the media. He said everyone involved in cricket is working for the same goal. He believes players, board officials and journalists all want the good of the game.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board recently faced tension with parts of the media. The issue grew in the past few weeks. At one stage, journalists could not enter the Sher e Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur without a BCB invitation.
Faruque spoke to reporters on February 27. He stressed the need for unity.
“I think all of us who are involved in cricket, from the board to the players and journalists, need to maintain good relations with everyone connected to the game. Our goal is the same. The development of Bangladesh cricket. So I feel a more friendly relationship would be better,” he said.
When asked if that bond exists now, he said things can improve.
“Relationships are not always the same. But I think improvement is possible. I do not think there is anything major here. There should definitely be improvement,” he said.
Faruque also praised the role of the media in cricket’s growth.
“The work you are doing helps improve cricket. Earlier there was only print media. Now there is electronic media and social media. I hope you will continue the work you have done before. It will help cricket and sports as a whole,” he said.
