Pakistani all-rounder Faheem Ashraf has returned to the Rangpur Riders for the Bangladesh Premier League following his international stint against Sri Lanka. Faheem, who impressed in the BPL before heading to Sri Lanka, expressed his excitement at being back with the franchise.
Before the Sri Lanka tour, Faheem played three BPL matches, taking 11 wickets. He claimed a five-wicket haul against Chattogram Royals while conceding just 17 runs. He then took three wickets each against Rajshahi Warriors and Sylhet Titans.
Although his performance in Sri Lanka yielded only one wicket across two matches, Faheem said he was thrilled to be back in the BPL. “The fans can speak for themselves, but as a player, my goal is always to perform as well as possible for the team and give my best effort,” Faheem said.
He added, “For me, Rangpur is a lucky charm. Returning to the team when they are doing well and contributing on the field makes it even more exciting. Our team is in the playoffs, so I am even more motivated to do better for them.”
Rangpur Riders have not yet secured a playoff spot, sitting fourth in the points table with four wins from eight matches. Faheem is optimistic about the team’s chances and believes momentum is just one win away. “This is cricket, anything can happen, but this team can bounce back from any situation,” he said. “When I left, the team was in a good position, and it is not in a bad position now. We just need one win to regain momentum, and then we will be on our way to the playoffs and hopefully the final.”
Faheem also outlined his personal goal in the tournament. “My focus in the BPL is simple. I want to contribute to the team’s victories and finish the tournament as champions.”
