The Appellate Division has upheld the bail of former lawmaker Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Suman in a case filed with Dhaka’s Mirpur Police Station during the July uprising.
The court also directed the High Court to dispose of the rule it had earlier issued regarding his bail.
A bench led by Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam issued the order Monday, Suman’s lawyer M Liton Ahmed told Times of Bangladesh.
Suman was arrested at about 1:30am on 21 October 2024 from Mirpur‑6 in Dhaka. Multiple cases were filed against him in different police stations across the capital and in Habiganj.
In the Mirpur case, the High Court had granted him bail and issued a rule. The state later appealed to the Appellate Division seeking a stay on that bail.
