A police complaint has been filed against former Member of Parliament (MP) Manjurul Ahsan Munshi, who was expelled from BNP, and Jasim Uddin, a candidate from the truck symbol, for allegedly threatening voters in Cumilla-4 (Debidwar) constituency.
The complaint, lodged on the night of Tuesday by a victim named Raisul Islam Akhand, was confirmed by Mohammad Moniruzzaman, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Debidwar Police Station.
The accusations originated from a speech Manjurul Ahsan Munshi made on 9 February in Bakshar Bazar, Debidwar upazila, where he allegedly threatened voters, saying their homes would be burned and destroyed if they did not vote for his party’s candidate.
A video of the statement went viral on social media, which led to his expulsion from all party positions within the BNP.
Additionally, Munshi’s nomination for the Cumilla-4 seat was canceled due to charges related to loan default.
The case has sparked further controversy surrounding the former MP, who now faces legal action based on the allegations.
