Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh Gabriel Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru met with Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Sunday. This was followed by a meeting with the high-level delegation from the European Union’s Election Observation Mission. Both meetings took place on Sunday morning at the Jamaat Ameer’s office in Bashundhara.
Around 12pm, the meeting with the high-level delegation of the EU Election Observation Mission was attended by Team Leader and Electoral and Political Expert Mete Bakken, Legal Expert Manuel Wally, and the Deputy Head of Delegation, Baiba Zarina.
From Jamaat’s side, the party’s Secretary General and former Golam Parwar, Central Executive Council member Mubarak Hossain, and the Ameer’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Mahmudul Hasan were present.
After the meeting, in a brief press briefing, Golam Parwar told journalists that the EU delegation exchanged views with the ameer in a cordial environment. He stated that the main purpose of their visit is to exchange views with political parties and stakeholders regarding the upcoming national election.
At 9am, the Ambassador of Spain to Bangladesh, Gabriel Sistiaga Ochoa de Chinchetru, met with the Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Shafiqur Rahman, at his Bashundhara office for a courtesy call.
During the meeting, they held open discussions on the overall situation in Bangladesh, bilateral and international relations between Bangladesh and Spain, investment, and matters of mutual interest. On this occasion, the Ambassador reiterated Spain’s firm support for Bangladesh in the future.
Simultaneously, they expressed optimism that the bilateral economic relations and the trajectory of development and progress between Bangladesh and Spain would be further strengthened in the future.
