Bangladesh Railway has started selling advance return tickets for intercity trains to ease Eid-ul-Adha travel, with tickets sold on Monday covering journeys on 4 June.
Sales for trains operating in the western region opened at 8am, while tickets for eastern region trains will be available from 2pm. For passenger convenience, all seats are being sold online.
According to the railway authorities, tickets for 31 May trains were sold on 21 May, and tickets for 1 June trains were sold on 22 May. Tickets for 3 June will be sold on 24 May, and tickets for 4 June on 25 May.
The directive added that a single passenger can purchase a maximum of four tickets for both the outbound and return journeys, but only once for each phase. Tickets for the advance and return journeys will be non-refundable.
In response to passenger requests, 25 percent of the total seats (excluding upper classes) will be sold as standing tickets from station counters on the actual day of travel.
