Dhaka University (DU) and the Indonesian Ambassador have discussed student exchange programmes, academic research collaboration and the possibility of dual degree programmes during a meeting at the office of the DU Vice-Chancellor on Thursday.
Indonesian Ambassador Listyowati, accompanied by Second Secretary Sahid Nurkarim and Minister Counsellor Ahmad Sayfuddin, met DU VC ABM Obaidul Islam, said a press release.
The envoy expressed willingness to provide scholarships for DU students, teachers and officials to pursue higher studies in Indonesian universities. She also sought cooperation in establishing an ‘Indonesian Corner’ at Dhaka University to promote language, culture and history.
Obaidul Islam expressed willingness to work with Indonesian universities for academic and research collaboration. He stressed strengthening bilateral ties through education and research, and emphasised more collaborative academic and cultural programmes.
The meeting also discussed the possibilities of introducing dual degree programmes on language and culture, faculty and student exchanges, and arranging conferences, symposiums and workshops under joint auspices. They agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding soon.
