Preparations are underway for the Silver Jubilee celebration of Dhaka University (DU) Alumni 99-00, the platform for graduates of the 1999-2000 academic session, said in a press release. The programme, scheduled for 25 December 2026, is being organised to strengthen alumni engagement and promote contributions to the university’s development.
At a recent meeting held at the Vice-Chancellor’s office, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam formally launched the official website and registration process for the celebration. The meeting was attended by the Executive Committee of the alumni platform, led by President Zakir Hossain and General Secretary Habib.
During the event, Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam praised the alumni initiative and expressed hope that the Silver Jubilee would reinforce bonds among former students while encouraging them to play a more active role in supporting the university.
The Executive Committee announced that the Silver Jubilee programme will be formally inaugurated on 25 December with a colourful ceremony. Former students of the 1999-2000 session, both in Bangladesh and abroad, have been urged to complete their registration through the website promptly. The committee said it is committed to organising a seamless and memorable celebration.
The platform aims to provide alumni with opportunities to reconnect with peers, share experiences, and contribute to the ongoing development of the university’s academic and extracurricular initiatives.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr ABM Obaidul Islam highlighted the importance of alumni participation in sustaining the university’s reputation and fostering collaboration between current students and graduates.
The event reflects Dhaka University’s broader strategy to engage its alumni network in initiatives that support innovation, mentorship, and institutional growth.
