Dhaka stocks extended their recovery for a third straight session on Thursday as investors bought recently beaten-down shares, lifting the benchmark index while turnover jumped 20.1 per cent.

The DSEX rose 22.7 points, or 0.42 per cent, to close at 5,452, up from 5,429 in the previous session.

The market opened higher, slipped mildly early in the session and regained momentum towards the close as investors accumulated stocks at relatively attractive prices. Concerns over weaker corporate earnings and renewed geopolitical uncertainty, however, continued to weigh on sentiment.

Turnover climbed to Tk499.70 crore from Tk416.20 crore, while the number of trades rose 9.3 per cent to 1,62,437. Trading volume increased 5.3 per cent to 16.20 crore shares.
