Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), in collaboration with Green Savers and Delta Dot Limited, is set to launch Bangladesh’s first Urban Tree Museum and Tree Care and Rooftop Garden Support Centre in the capital.
A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for their implementation and maintenance was signed at DNCC City Hall on Wednesday, said a press release.
The Urban Tree Museum, located in RAJUK Uttara Extended Project (Phase-3), will showcase Dhaka’s endangered, nearly extinct, and native tree species, while providing spaces for research, education, and public engagement with nature.
The Tree Care Centre at Gulshan’s Shahid Tajuddin Memorial Park will serve as a one-stop hub for citizens to diagnose and treat sick trees, access plant pharmacies, and use lab facilities for soil and pest analysis.
Visitors can also purchase saplings, enjoy green reading spaces, and use a “Tree Shelter Home” for temporary care of plants.
DNCC Administrator Mohammad Ejaz said the projects aim to connect residents with nature, encourage tree conservation, and promote environmental responsibility, marking a major milestone for urban greening and sustainable city development.
