The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) has taken down 125,000 illegal banners and festoons across the city in the past month as part of its ongoing cleanliness drive.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Mohammad Ejaz shared the update on Thursday after a divisional review meeting on the “Banner and Festoons Removal Operation” held at the city corporation headquarters.
“In the past month, we have removed around 125,000 banners and festoons,” Ejaz said.
“I urge everyone not to litter the city with such materials again. It is an extremely demanding task for our city workers.”
According to DNCC data, Region 3 recorded the highest number of removals with 29,441 banners and festoons cleared.
Nearly 25,000 were taken down from Region 2, 18,000 from Region 4, 12,000 from Region 5, and around 11,000 from Region 9.
Last month, DNCC designated 30 specific spots across the city for free poster placement and then launched a coordinated operation to remove all unauthorized banners, posters, and festoons.
The month-long campaign covered 52 wards under DNCC’s 10 regions. Officials said the citywide cleanliness effort will continue.
