Newly appointed Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Mosleh Uddin Ahmed has warned that stern action will be taken against market lessees found forcibly pulling or obstructing cattle-carrying vehicles on roads or outside designated market areas.
Presiding over a special coordination meeting at the DMP Headquarters conference room on Tuesday morning, the Commissioner and Additional IGP Mosleh Uddin Ahmed emphasised the necessity of maintaining security and discipline ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Adha.
The session addressed the collection, preservation, and marketing of sacrificial animal skins, the security of vehicles transporting raw hides, and general traffic management within the Dhaka metropolitan area.
The commissioner stated that to ensure congestion-free roads and maintain order, no cattle would be allowed to be kept outside the boundaries of the markets.
He further announced that the DMP will deploy fake money detection machines at the cattle markets.
The commissioner urged relevant authorities to refrain from road-digging activities during the Eid period.
He also requested all government agencies to work in coordination to ensure that the Eid journey for citizens remains safe and smooth.
At the beginning of the meeting, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented a comprehensive security plan through a PowerPoint presentation.
The meeting was attended by high-ranking officials including Additional Police Commissioner (Crime and Operations) SN Md Nazrul Islam, Additional Police Commissioner (Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime) Md Masud Karim, Additional Police Commissioner (DB) Md Shafiqul Islam, and Additional Police Commissioner (Traffic) Md Anisur Rahman.
Representatives from various intelligence agencies, specialised police units, Bangladesh Bank, the Department of Livestock Services, the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection, Dhaka South City Corporation, Dhaka North City Corporation, Fire Service and Civil Defence, DPDC, DESCO, Dhaka District Administration, the salt traders’ associations, and the Bangladesh Tanners Association were also in attendance, alongside lessees of various cattle markets in the capital
