The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Traffic Division filed 2,550 cases over traffic violations during drives across the capital over the past two days.
The cases were filed during operations conducted on Thursday and Friday, 20 and 21 August, according to the DMP Traffic Division.
Of the cases, the Ramna Traffic Division filed 164, involving 13 buses, 10 covered vans, 15 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 33 motorcycles, among other vehicles.
The Lalbagh Traffic Division filed 222 cases, involving 10 buses, 16 trucks, three covered vans, 21 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 133 motorcycles.
The Motijheel Traffic Division filed 462 cases, involving 30 buses, four trucks, 32 covered vans, 134 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 215 motorcycles.
The Wari Traffic Division filed 155 cases, involving 34 buses, 15 trucks, nine covered vans, 19 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 56 motorcycles.
Meanwhile, the Tejgaon Traffic Division filed 220 cases, involving 15 buses, three trucks, five covered vans, 35 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 99 motorcycles.
The Mirpur Traffic Division recorded the highest number of cases at 619, involving 38 buses, 39 trucks, 50 covered vans, 58 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 287 motorcycles.
The Uttara Traffic Division filed 460 cases, involving 55 buses, 20 trucks, 17 covered vans, 61 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 154 motorcycles.
The Gulshan Traffic Division filed 197 cases, involving 34 buses, six trucks, eight covered vans, 12 CNG-run auto-rickshaws and 42 motorcycles.
During the drives, 865 vehicles were sent to dumping yards and 498 were towed.
The DMP said its traffic enforcement drives would continue across the metropolitan area to maintain traffic discipline.
