Dhaka Metropolitan Police has imposed a temporary ban on flying sky lanterns in the capital from 11pm on Thursday to 12am on Friday.
The restriction, announced in a public notice signed by DMP Commissioner SM Sazzat Ali, has been enforced under Section 28 of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Ordinance (Ordinance No. III of 1976).
Police said the measure aims to prevent potential fire hazards and maintain public safety during the period.
