The High Court on Tuesday granted interim bail to dismissed Lt Colonel Md Afzal Naser in a murder case filed over a killing in Dhaka during July mass uprising.
A High Court bench comprising Justice Md Khairul Alam and Md Rafizul Islam passed the order, along with a rule.
Deputy Attorney General Masudul Alam Doha confirmed the court’s decision. He added that a note has already been submitted to file an appeal against the bail order in the Appellate Division.
Naser was arrested in early hours of 29 March. He was later shown arrested in a murder case filed in connection with fatal shooting of a person in Mirpur on 19 July 2024.
Naser had previously served in Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) from March 2006 to March 2008.
