Dhaka International Mobile Film Festival (DIMFF) has launched a four-day mobile filmmaking workshop titled ‘Proud Bangladesh’ in collaboration with Infinix Mobile.
The initiative aims to provide hands-on mobile filmmaking training to university students across Bangladesh. It operates as an outreach programme of the Media Studies and Journalism Department at the University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB).
The workshop runs on January 16, 17, 23 and 24. Selected participants are creating short films using mobile phones. Each team is developing stories based on the theme ‘Proud Bangladesh’.
The films highlight culture, creativity, resilience and national pride. Organisers said the theme encourages young storytellers to reflect on contemporary Bangladeshi narratives.
More than 70 students from 13 universities applied for the workshop. The organisers selected five teams comprising 20 participants after a competitive screening process.
The participating institutions include North South University, Daffodil International University, Daffodil Polytechnic Institute, Army Institute of Business Administration and ULAB.
Filmmaker Mir Wadud Islam is leading the workshop. He is guiding participants through idea development, scripting, shooting and editing. Industry professionals are also providing mentorship throughout the programme.
All participants will receive certificates after completion. DIMFF will showcase the final short films at a closing session. Infinix Bangladesh will award prizes to outstanding teams.
