Rare albino buffalo nicknamed Donald Trump has become the star of Eid‑ul‑Adha in Dhaka, drawing enthusiastic crowds to the National Zoo in Dhaka’s Mirpur.
Spared from sacrifice at the last moment, the 700‑kg animal recognisable for its blond tuft was moved into government custody after the Ministry of Home Affairs intervened Wednesday night.
Media reports said the owner was refunded and the buffalo redirected to the zoo, reportedly following a “request” from the US Embassy.
Now settled in a large enclosure, the buffalo has quickly become the centre of attention. Families and groups of friends are flocking to see it, snapping selfies and sharing jokes about meeting “Trump” in person.
According to the zoo authorities, the animal is being treated like any other resident. The name was given by the trader. It is simply an albino buffalo.

The authorities have no intention of displaying it as a special attraction. But since it needs to be kept in a large enclosure, visitors are able to see it and it has attracted a lot of interest.
The buffalo’s calm demeanor and distinctive blond fringe have already made it a viral sensation on social media, with memes and videos circulating nationwide.
Owner Ziauddin Mridha explained how the nickname began. He said, “My younger brother spotted the resemblance. The buffalo is a rare breed… it went viral on social media as ‘Donald Trump’.”
For Dhaka families, Eid’s quiet parks may have offered little excitement, but at the zoo, one animal has ensured the holiday spirit remains alive — a buffalo whose name alone guarantees a crowd.
