Dhaka Comics has turned to mythology this festive season with Durgapujar Golpo, a vividly illustrated comic designed to introduce young readers to the origins of Goddess Durga.
Illustrated by Arindam Kundu and edited by Kaushik Majumdar, the project blends folklore with visual storytelling to make age-old traditions accessible to children.
The team behind the comic said the idea was rooted in the desire to preserve local narratives in a format that appeals to new generations.
“Our inspirations came from Bengal’s own traditions: the motifs, symbols and cultural elements are all rooted here,” said artist Kundu. “With Kaushik Majumdar’s guidance, we ensured the story remained faithful to its origins while still being engaging for children.”
Beyond its mythological retelling, Durgapujar Golpo underscores the universal struggle between good and evil.
Majumdar noted that the comic’s strength lies in balancing cultural authenticity with readability across age groups, ensuring it resonates with both young readers and families eager to pass down traditions.
