The Dhaka District Administrator’s Office has opened an emergency control room to monitor damage and coordinate rescue efforts following Friday’s earthquake.

In a notice signed by District Administrator Md Rezaul Karim, the public was urged to contact the control room for updates on quake-related incidents or for any urgent help.

The notice said the district administration has been closely monitoring the situation since the quake and has begun taking necessary measures to assist affected residents.

A 5.7-magnitude earthquake shook the country at 10:38am on Friday. Initial reports confirm five deaths and at least 39 injuries, while several buildings in Dhaka and other districts have been damaged.
