Mumbai’s streets have witnessed dramatic scenes as members of the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) staged protests over the NEET‑UG 2026 paper leak, with several incidents quickly going viral online.
One of the most widely circulated videos shows 27‑year‑old model Rhiya Ahir standing defiantly in front of a police van near Shivaji Park after demonstrators were detained on Wednesday.
The footage captures Ahir pressing both hands against the vehicle as it inches forward, refusing to move. Other protesters soon surround the van, forcing it to halt. The clip has drawn comparisons to Beijing’s iconic “Tank Man” image, with social media users praising Ahir’s stance.
Another viral moment involved a police vehicle carrying detainees. Video shows a protester sprinting towards the van, opening its rear latch, and enabling several detained demonstrators to exit as onlookers cheer.
Mumbai Police has yet to issue an official statement on either incident.
Not all the day’s viral images were confrontational. A separate clip showed protesters marching past a school in Dadar, where children waved enthusiastically from inside the campus.
Demonstrators waved back before continuing, a brief exchange that quickly gained traction online.
The videos emerged as thousands joined the CJP’s protest across Mumbai, demanding accountability for alleged irregularities in the medical entrance exam.
The movement, founded by Abhijeet Dipke, has been pressing for reforms, while activist Sonam Wangchuk’s ongoing hunger strike has added momentum to the campaign.
