British rock giants Def Leppard are set to receive the 2,825th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on October 9.
The ceremony, taking place outside the historic Capitol Records building at 1750 N. Vine Street, will feature guest tributes from Jon Bon Jovi and Bruce Resnikoff, president and CEO of Universal Music Enterprises.
The event will be hosted by Bob Buchmann of Sirius XM Radio and streamed live on the Walk of Fame’s official website.
“Def Leppard has earned a permanent place not only in music history, but now on one of the most famous pavements in the world,” said Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame, in a statement on behalf of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce.
Formed in Sheffield in 1977, the band were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2019, with Queen’s Brian May delivering their induction speech.
Their catalogue boasts two Diamond-certified albums in the US: ‘Hysteria’ (12 million) and ‘Pyromania’ (10 million).
Def Leppard has twice topped the Billboard 200 albums chart with Hysteria and ‘Adrenalize’, and scored a US No. 1 single with ‘Love Bites’.
The current line-up features Joe Elliott (vocals), Phil Collen (guitar), Rick Savage (bass), Vivian Campbell (guitar) and Rick Allen (drums).
Since its launch in 1960, the Hollywood Walk of Fame has become a global cultural landmark, attracting millions of visitors every year.
With this recognition, Def Leppard now take their place among rock’s immortal names, literally etched into the Los Angeles pavement.
