Bangladesh secured their semi-final spot as Group B runners-up, following a 2-0 win over Pakistan with two goals from Ronan Sullivan, and a 1-1 draw against India, thanks to another corner-assisted goal from the same source. That draw, however, meant finishing second in the group.
Fans immediately reacted to the starting XI announcement, noting the absence of both Declan Sullivan and Ibrahim Nawaz. Both players had delivered in prior matches and training, making their omission a talking point. Cox’s decision suggests he values tactical cohesion and balance over headline-grabbing inclusions.
