Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi says he is still unsure about Richarlison’s future at the club after the Brazilian hinted at leaving.
Richarlison reminded everyone of his value by scoring the winning goal in Tottenham’s 2-1 pre season victory over Chelsea in Sydney on Saturday. He also found the net in the 2-0 win over Auckland FC the previous weekend.
The 29 year old striker has entered the final year of his contract. His future has become a major talking point after Tottenham signed several new players during the summer.
Although Spurs have not signed a new striker yet, De Zerbi has made it clear that he still wants more additions before the transfer window closes. Manchester City forward Savinho is among the players linked with the club.
When asked about Richarlison’s future, De Zerbi said: “I don’t know.”
“As a player, as a guy, it is unbelievable his attitude and behaviour, but at the end we have to respect what he wants to do.”
“For me he is still an important player because it is not so easy to find another striker as Richarlison, because Richarlison scores goals and he knows the way.”
Asked again if Richarlison would leave, De Zerbi replied: “I don’t know, I didn’t understand well, because sometimes he said to stay, sometimes he leaves.”
“We have to speak anyway, there is not any problem. He is a lovely guy.”
“All of us love him, the teammates, the club, the staff, because he works hard every day, seriously every day, and we can’t say anything else.”
Richarlison scored 12 goals for Tottenham last season.
