Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), student wing of BNP, has announced its panel of candidates for the upcoming Chittagong University Central Students’ Union (CUCSU) election, set to be held on September 12.
At a press conference held Thursday afternoon at the university’s Buddhijibi Chattar (Intellectuals’ Square), JCD Central Committee General Secretary Nasir Uddin formally announced the panel ahead of the CUCSU and hall union polls.
In the lineup, Sajjad Hossain Hridoy, the organising secretary of CU unit JCD, has been nominated for the post of Vice President (VP). Md Shafayet Hossain, a student of the Sports Science Department, has been nominated for General Secretary (GS), while Ayubur Rahman Toufiq, a student of the Islamic History Department, will contest for the position of Assistant General Secretary (AGS).
Speaking at a press conference Nasir alleged that the CU administration has become “severely politicised” and is “showing a biased attitude towards a specific organisation,” without naming any group directly.
“We are not receiving the cooperation we should be getting from the administration,” said Nasir. “Their actions suggest clear favoritism, which undermines the spirit of a fair and inclusive student election.”
Chhatra Dal also revealed candidates for various secretary and assistant secretary positions across key portfolios.
The list includes Azharul Islam Biplob, secretary, Sports and Games; Joy Barua, assistant secretary, Sports and Games; Md Mozammel Haque Hridoy, secretary, Literature, Culture and Publications; Shahidul Kaiser, assistant secretary, Literature, Culture and Publications; Touhidul Islam Bhuiyan, secretary, Office Affairs; Shahriar Ullah Fahad, assistant secretary, Office Affairs; Nuzhat Jahan , secretary, Women’s Welfare; Shafkat Shafik, assistant secretary, Women’s Welfare; Md Ozaier Hossain, secretary, Science and ICT; Fairuz Sadaf Deep, secretary, Research and Development; Imam Hasan, secretary, Social Welfare and Environment; Mohammad Abrar Galib – secretary, Health Affairs; Shahriar Limon – Secretary, Liberation War and Democratic Movement; Shrutiraj Chowdhury, secretary, Career Development and International Affairs; Md Sayem Uddin Ahmed , secretary, Communications and Housing; Yasin Arafat, assistant secretary, Communications and Housing; Abdullah Al Sakib, secretary, Law and Human Rights; Md Javed, secretary, Library and Cafeteria.
The following candidates have been announced for general member positions: Faisal Pranto Babor, Mizan Mia, Nusrat Jahan, SM Torikul Islam Rimon, and Tayef Hossain Emon.
