The Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit has taken a minor into custody for his alleged involvement with the banned militant outfit Neo-JMB.
According to a DMP press release issued Friday, a CTTC operational team conducted a raid in the Habiganj Sadar area at approximately 2:30pm on Thursday based on a tip-off.
It has been reported that the minor was in contact with Ahsan Zahir Khan, Daniel Islam Hasan, and Russell (alias Palash, alias Abu Basher Al Faruqi), who are named as accused in an anti-terrorism case filed with Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station.
Further investigations by CTTC revealed that the detained minor was highly active online. He allegedly shared extremist posts in support of Daulatul Islam (IS) to recruit members and distributed PDF files containing instructions on how to make bombs.
The CTTC also stated that the minor used close associates to incite and plan attacks targeting Shia mosques, police checkposts, and ISKCON temples.
In accordance with legal regulations, the minor has been produced before a court. The information was confirmed in a press release signed by Arifa Akter Prity, assistant commissioner of police at the Dhaka Metropolitan Police Media and Public Relations Division.
