A Dhaka court has ordered the authorities concerned to seize income tax records of former air chief marshal (retd) Shaikh Abdul Hannan and his wife Tahmida Begum.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Faiz passed the order on Monday following two separate applications filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
According to court bench assistant Md Riaz Hossain, ACC Assistant Director Mahmudul Hasan submitted the applications, noting that both Hannan and Tahmida are registered taxpayers.
Seizure of these records is essential for a fair investigation of the allegations brought against them, the official said in the application.
Previously, on 6 May, the court had issued an order to seize assets of Hannan.
