A husband and wife were killed after a truck struck an auto-rickshaw in the Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj on Friday morning.
The accident occurred around 8:30 am in the Deobhog area on the Sirajganj-Tarash road.
The deceased were identified as Jalal Pramanik, 70, son of Ishaq Pramanik from Kumarlu village in Tarash upazila, and his wife, Monoara Begum, 65.
According to Sub-Inspector (SI) Abdul Matin of Raiganj Police Station, the couple was travelling from their home in Kumarlu village to visit a Kobiraj (traditional healer) in the Pangasi area of Raiganj upazila.
The auto-rickshaw was hit from behind by a truck, resulting in the couple dying at the scene. Police have recovered the bodies and confirmed they will be handed over to the family following the completion of legal procedures.
