Bangladesh fast bowler Hasan Mahmud believes his recent county cricket experience has prepared him well for the upcoming two-Test series against Australia, with conditions in Darwin offering encouragement for the pace attack.
Hasan played in the Lanka Premier League before returning to England, where he featured in county cricket with both the red and white ball. He believes that experience will help him on Australia’s pitches.
“The conditions are very similar. Darwin’s weather is quite close to Bangladesh’s. It’s a bit hot. We’ll get help from the pitch,” Hasan said.
“As fast bowlers, we’ll get movement and bounce. There’s plenty in it for the seamers if we stick to our process and make a good start.”
Hasan said his spell in county cricket gave him confidence and valuable experience ahead of another demanding Test assignment.
“When you perform well for a team and they want you back the following year, it’s a great feeling as a sportsperson. Their culture and cricket gave me a very good experience. It will help me a lot in international cricket.”
The pace bowler wants to carry his recent form into the Australia series and make a decisive contribution with the ball.
“I want to give my best. I want to continue the way I started in county cricket, take wickets and contribute to the team.”
Hasan also highlighted the significance of the tour, with Bangladesh preparing for a Test series in Australia for the first time in more than a decade.
“It’s a very important series for me. Every cricketer dreams of performing well in overseas Tests and winning matches. We’ll all try to make this series our own.”
