The normal academic activities resumed at Milestone School and College in Diabari area of the capital on Wednesday morning, 15-day after the tragic plane crash on the school premises.
Classes resumed at 8:30am, with students from grades 9 through 12 arriving at their respective classrooms on time.
Milestone’s public relations officer, Shah Bulbul, confirmed that students adhered to the regular schedule, marking the return of normalcy after the tragic incident.
While the college campus had reopened on Sunday, no formal lessons took place that day. Instead, students, teachers, and parents participated in the prayer and mourning ceremony in memory of the victims of the plane crash and returned home.
School authorities said that counseling services have been started at the Milestone campus for those who have been mentally disturbed after the accident. In addition to overcoming mental trauma, special help is being provided to students to focus on their studies.
Not just students, but teachers and parents who witnessed the aftermath of the crash are also receiving counseling to help them cope with the psychological impact.
On July 21 an Air force jet crashed on Milestone School and College compound in Diabari. So far, 34 people, including children, have died in the incident, while many others with burn injuries remain hospitalised.
