Chinese AeroSynth to invest $3.5mn in Mirsharai drone plant

Chinese company AeroSynth Limited is set to establish a high-tech drone manufacturing facility at the BEPZA Economic Zone in Mirsharai, Chattogram, with an investment of $3.5mn, said the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority.

The factory will be the second drone manufacturing project in the zone, marking a new milestone in BEPZA’s move toward advanced technology-based industries. AeroSynth will produce toy drones, fishing drones, and lightweight delivery drones, with a target of 150,000 units a year. The project will employ 70 Bangladeshi nationals.

The lease agreement was signed on Wednesday at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka. The deal was signed by BEPZA Member for Investment Promotion Md Ashraful Kabir and AeroSynth authorised representative Hu Dandan in the presence of BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain ndc afwc psc G MPhil.

The Executive Chairman thanked AeroSynth for choosing the BEPZA Economic Zone as the destination for its high-tech investment. He said the authority would provide round-the-clock assistance to ensure smooth industrial operations for investors.

Earlier, local company Sky Bees Limited became the first to invest in drone manufacturing at the Mirsharai zone. The company is setting up a $45.95mn unmanned aerial vehicle plant to produce 7,314 drones annually for agricultural spraying, firefighting, emergency rescue, delivery, cinematography, and mapping.

BEPZA said that as of September 2025, six companies operating in the economic zone have already started production and exports, creating around 4,000 jobs and exporting goods worth $19.92mn. Several other investors are preparing to launch operations soon, further strengthening the zone’s industrial diversity.

The signing ceremony was attended by BEPZA Member for Engineering Abdullah Al Mamun, Member for Finance ANM Foyzul Haque, Executive Director for Enterprise Services Md Khorshid Alam, Executive Director for Security Lt Col Mohammad Arifur Rahaman, Executive Director for Administration Samir Biswas, and Executive Director for Public Relations ASM Anwar Parvez, along with senior representatives from AeroSynth.
