Police have recovered the decomposed body of a carpenter from a locked warehouse in Paschim Malsadah village of Gangni upazila in Meherpur.
The deceased was identified as Biplob Hossain, 52, son of the late Anisur Rahman from Bogura Sadar upazila.
Police said the body was recovered around 10pm on Thursday and sent to the morgue for an autopsy.
According to locals, Biplob, along with three others, used to make wooden furniture after renting the warehouse. When his mobile phone remained switched off throughout the day, his daughter asked a nearby resident to check on him.
In the evening, locals found him lying motionless inside the locked warehouse and informed the police, who later recovered the body.
Gangni Police Station Investigation Officer Al Mamun said Biplob had been suffering from heart disease. “It is being investigated whether he died of a heart attack or for another reason,” he said, adding that the body has been sent to the morgue to determine the cause of death.
