A caller named Kamrul contacted the National Emergency Service 999 on Wednesday, reporting that his friend had been seriously injured after suffering electrocution at an under‑construction power plant in Kadda area under Gazipur Sadar upazila.
His friend was lying on the ground in critical condition, and Kamrul urgently requested immediate assistance.
The call was received by 999 operator Constable Himanish Barua, while Fire Dispatcher Md Al Amin maintained continuous communication with the caller and the fire service to coordinate the rescue.
The 999 service promptly alerted the Gazipur Chowrasta Fire Service Station.
Kamrul and his associate Jihad, 18, had entered the construction site intending to steal electrical cables. During the attempt, Jihad suffered a high‑voltage shock and severe burns. Kamrul also sustained an electric shock, though his injuries were not life‑threatening.
Following the alert, a rescue team from Gazipur Chowrasta Fire Service, led by Fire Service Leader Buddhadeb Sarkar, rushed to the scene. The team rescued both individuals and took them to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital for treatment.
Fire fighter Buddhadeb Sarkar later confirmed completion of the rescue operation to the 999 control room.
