A bomb exploded inside an abandoned tin‑shed house in Madaripur, blowing off a large portion of its roof and sparking panic in the area.
The blast occurred around 5:30pm Wednesday in Dakkhin Jhikrahat village of Ghatmajhi union under Sadar upazila.
Locals said a house belonging to Aminul Islam Khan had long been abandoned. In the afternoon, they suddenly heard a loud explosion from inside. Approaching the spot, they saw smoke rising and reported smelling explosives.
A team from Madaripur Model Police Station visited the site after receiving information. Police said they are investigating the cause of the blast and who may have been involved.
Madaripur Additional Superintendent of Police (Sadar Circle) Fariha Rafique Bhavna confirmed the incident. She said investigators are looking into whether it was sabotage or linked to local disputes.
Those involved will be identified and legal action taken, she added.
