Ishraque Hossain has resigned from the post of state minister for liberation war affairs. A high-level source at the Cabinet Division said on Monday that they have received Ishraque Hossain’s resignation letter, adding that a gazette notification may be issued on Sunday.
Earlier, at around 2:30pm, Ishraque announced his resignation at a press conference at the National Press Club in the capital.
According to rules, after the resignation letter is submitted, the president accepts it, and the Cabinet Division subsequently issues a gazette notification regarding the matter.
Currently, Ahmed Azam Khan serves as minister at the ministry of liberation war affairs, where Ishraque Hossain was the state minister.
At present, excluding the prime minister, there are 26 full ministers. Additionally, there were 24 state ministers, but following Ishraque’s resignation, the number of state ministers stands at 23.
