At least 16 people were injured in a severe road accident when a bus overturned in Ishwardi, Pabna, at midnight on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 12:30am near the Mirkamari Chand Ali intersection on the Dashuria-Lalon Shah Bridge highway.
According to Fire Service sources, a bus belonging to Shah Fateh Ali Paribahan, traveling from Kuakata to Naogaon, lost control and overturned at the Chand Ali intersection. The crash trapped 20 passengers inside the bus. The Fire Service was alerted and arrived at the scene, rescuing the trapped passengers and sending them to the hospital.
Senior In-Charge of Rupur Green City Modern Fire Station Mohammad Abu Hashem confirmed that six units from three fire stations responded to the emergency. He added that at least 16 passengers were injured, but thankfully no fatalities were reported.
It is suspected that the bus lost control due to mud and dirt on the road, which caused it to overturn.
