Miscreants set fire to a bus of Itihas Paribahan that had been parked beside the Dhaka–Aricha highway near Fulbaria bus stand in Savar.
No casualties were reported. The incident occurred around 3:30am on Sunday.
Upon receiving the news, two units from the Savar Fire Service and Civil Defence Station rushed to the scene and brought the blaze under control, said Meherul Islam, warehouse inspector at the Savar Fire Service and Civil Defence Station.
He said, “We received the information at 3:44am. Two units extinguished the flames. No one was injured, but the interior of the bus was burned, causing an estimated loss of about Tk 2 lakh.”
“When we arrived, the bus was already burning. Locals informed us that someone may have set the bus on fire and fled, as it had been parked there,” he added.
A highway police officer said Savar police are investigating the incident.
