Members of Indian Border Security Force (BSF) detained a Bangladeshi youth near the security fence at Darshana-Gede border in Chuadanga on Saturday evening.
According to witnesses, the youth, identified as Zulfikar, 22, son of Kalu Moulvi from Joynagar area of Darshana border.
Lieutenant Colonel Nazmul Hasan, commanding officer of BGB-6 battalion in Chuadanga confirmed the incident.
He said Zulfikar was detained by BSF while allegedly attempting to cut the security fence on Indian side of the border railway line.
He has since been handed over to Indian police.
According to BGB, the necessary arrangements will be made to bring Zulfikar back to Bangladesh once the Indian legal proceedings are finalised.
Surveillance has been further intensified across the border area.
