Miscreants hacked a BNP leader to death in Kishoreganj’s Mithamoin upazila Wednesday night.
The victim, Jahidul Alam Jahangir, was president (position suspended) of the Mithamoin upazila unit of BNP.
The attack took place around 9:30pm in front of his house at Baganbari in the Beribadh area.
Mithamoin BNP publicity secretary Abdul Awal said three to four unidentified assailants attacked Jahangir with sharp weapons while he was returning home from the bazar.
BNP activist Hadis Mia, who was with him, was also injured.
Both were rushed to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in critical condition. Doctors declared Jahangir dead on arrival.
Ananta Basak, a doctor at the hospital’s emergency department, said Jahangir was brought in around 11:30pm and had died before reaching the hospital.
