Wang Lina, the Chinese-born wife of BNP candidate Zakir Hossain Sarker, has emerged as a familiar face in the election campaign in Kushtia-3 (Sadar), drawing wide attention and praise on social media for seeking votes for her husband.

Wang Lina has been accompanying her husband to campaign events across different areas of the constituency. Alongside door-to-door outreach, she has been addressing small gatherings, mixing Bangla and Chinese as she urges voters to support Zakir Hossain Sarker.

On Tuesday, Zakir Hossain Sarker shared a video from a women’s courtyard meeting in the Abdalpur area on his verified Facebook page. The 58-second clip shows Wang Lina speaking in broken Bangla and asking voters to cast their ballots for her husband.

In the video, she says that her husband is a BUET-trained engineer and assures voters that better days are ahead. She calls on everyone to vote for “Engineer Zakir Hossain Sarker with the sheaf of paddy symbol.”

In the caption of the post, Zakir Hossain Sarker wrote an emotional message, noting the role of women as a source of inspiration and strength behind success. The caption says “No man has ever won alone by the sword; it is woman, the goddess of victory, who gives inspiration and strength.”

The video quickly drew widespread reactions, with netizens flooding the comment section with praise late Tuesday night.

Zakir Hossain Sarker is the member secretary of the Kushtia district BNP. A BUET graduate, he was elected chairman of Kushtia Sadar Upazila in 2014 with BNP backing. A young industrialist and owner of Sarkrr Steel, he is contesting the 13th National Parliamentary Election from Kushtia-3 as the BNP candidate.

In the previous election, his main rival was Awami League joint general secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif. In the upcoming election, his principal opponent is Jamaat-e-Islami leader and Islamic scholar Amir Hamza.
