The third solo recitation evening of reciter Biplob Aditya titled “Shiyore Bangladesh” was held on Friday (June 19) at 6:30 pm at Natmandal Auditorium of the Theatre and Performance Studies Department, University of Dhaka.
Organised by the cultural platform “Tarunner Shor,” the programme featured selected poems, narratives, and musical interpretations of eminent poet Nirmalendu Goon. A total of 19 performances were presented, including recitations based on Goon’s poetry.
Notably, Aditya’s first solo recital evening titled “Tarunno” was held on March 9, 2024, followed by his second, “Prem O Dhrubo,” on April 19, 2025.
Eminent reciter and trainer Parvez Chowdhury attended the event as chief guest, while filmmaker and member secretary (programme) of “Tarunner Shor” Khondaker Suman was present as special guest. Poets, cultural activists, and literature enthusiasts also attended the programme.
Sharing his thoughts, reciter Biplob Aditya said, “Poetry for me is not just articulation; it is a dialogue with the inner country of people—their time and emotions. Bringing Nirmalendu Goon’s poetry to audiences through recitation carries a special meaning for me.”
Chief guest Parvez Chowdhury said, “Recitation is not merely an art form; it is a vital medium for shaping language, thought, and cultural consciousness. Such solo initiatives by young performers are both encouraging and promising.”
Special guest Khondaker Suman added, “Sustaining cultural practice among the new generation requires independent and continuous initiatives. Through ‘Tarunner Shor,’ we are trying to create a space for young artists to express their own voices and creativity.”
At the end of the programme, crests of honour were presented to several individuals and organisations. “Young Poet Honour” was awarded to Kabir Suman and Ashik Rahman Lion. “Friendship Memorial Crest” was given to Sharmin Akter, Faisal Adnan, and Mahfuza Rumi. Special honours were presented to Riaz Public School and Afrin Jaman Sarin, while “Cordiality Crest” was awarded to Saifullah Saif and Rajib Mojumdar.
Organisers said the initiative aims to expand the reach of Bangla language, poetry, and recitation among the new generation in a more inclusive and engaging way.
