Anamul Haque Bijoy went live on his official Facebook page on 29 November after being removed from the Bangladesh Premier League auction list, demanding clarity and proof of any wrongdoing. The move came after the BPL Governing Council issued a revised list of registered players the day before the auction, which excluded Bijoy and six other cricketers amid pending allegations of match irregularities.
A month earlier, the council had stated that players accused of fixing would not be included in the auction. Despite that, the final list removed Bijoy, Mosaddek Hossain Saikat, Alauddin Babu, Sanjamul Islam, Mizanur Rahman, Nihad Uz Zaman, and Shafiul Islam. The Bangladesh Cricket Board later confirmed that the removals were due to ongoing allegations, though officials stressed that none of the players should be considered guilty at this stage.
Following news of his exclusion, Bijoy and the other affected players tried to contact BCB officials, but most calls went unanswered. Frustrated, Bijoy took to social media to speak directly to the board and the BPL Governing Council.
“I would not have done this live if I had been able to reach BCB by phone,” Bijoy explained. “I tried contacting them via email… if they had responded, perhaps I wouldn’t have needed to go live.”
Placed in the “red flag zone” due to match-fixing allegations, Bijoy emphasised that no proof has been established, making it unfair to label him guilty. He returned to Dhaka from Khulna, skipping a National Cricket League match, and called for evidence to be presented.
“My first question is, why was I removed from the draft today? What am I guilty of? If I am guilty, I want the proof. On behalf of the people of Bangladesh, I want to tell BCB and the BPL Governing Council… if I am guilty, ban me for life. I may not be a favourite for many, I may not be a good teammate for some, perhaps I’m not even considered a good player. Fine, I don’t need to play anymore. But if I am guilty, ban me. I will accept it,” he said.
He also demanded that his reputation be restored if found innocent. “This is why I am reaching out on social media to know what the resolution will be. If you have evidence, ban me and I will accept it willingly. Let the people of Bangladesh know whether I am bad, criminal, or a good person. But if not, you must restore my reputation and correct this defamation.”
