Anamul Haque Bijoy has asked the Bangladesh Cricket Board to give him a clear answer about his exclusion from the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and his unpaid dues.
Bijoy said he was first included in the draft list for last year’s BPL auction. Later, his name was removed from the final list after a recommendation from the BCB Integrity Unit chairman Alex Marshall. Before the tournament, some media reports linked his name with integrity concerns. However, the board did not publicly charge or name any player after a three member committee submitted a 900 page report on October 28 last year.
Even though he could not play in the BPL, Bijoy was allowed to take part in the ongoing Bangladesh Cricket League.
“I was not given the chance to play in the BPL even though it was my right. My payment from 2024 is still unpaid,” Bijoy said. “I tried to speak to different officials but no one gave me any answer.”
He said the whole matter feels unfair and confusing.
“If someone has done something wrong, it should not take two years to find out. A few weeks or a month is enough,” he said. “If nothing has been found in two years, that means the person has done nothing.”
Bijoy again denied any wrongdoing.
“I have done nothing wrong. If there is proof against me, then show it to me,” he said. “If I am guilty, I am ready to stop playing cricket.”
He said the issue has hurt his image.
“The disrespect I have faced in the last few years has been very painful. I do not think I can earn that respect back just by playing again,” he said. “I only want a clear answer. Tell me if I am guilty or not. It is very hard to stay in this uncertain situation.”
Bijoy also said he does not want to take legal action.
“I see the board as a guardian body. I have been left out without reason,” he said. “Let me play in all formats without selective decisions between BPL and BCL. That is all I want.”
