Bangladesh Garment Buying House Association (BGBA) held its biennial executive committee election for the 2026–2028 term on 10 January at the UCB Lounge of Uttara Club in Dhaka, with voting running from 10am to 5pm, the association said in a press release.
A total of 28 candidates from two panels contested 21 posts in the two-year term election, while a 25-member monitoring team oversaw the process, with representatives from the Ministry of Defence, Export Development Bureau, BKMEA, BGMEA, BGAPMEA, Nafa and OAB, the press release said.
BGBA said a significant share of Bangladesh’s garment export orders is sourced and managed through member buying house owners, adding that buying houses link international buyers with local factories and contribute to export earnings, foreign exchange inflows, employment and broader economic growth.
Vote counting began at 5.30 pm and ended at 7.15 pm, after which preliminary results were announced by Election Board Chairman Md Nurul Islam, the press release said.
Md Abdul Hamid Proprietor KFS Fashion was elected Vice President with 407 votes, while Mohammad Mafiz Ullah Managing Partner BBL Fashions received 84 votes.
Mohammad Rakib Hossain Chairman X Solutions Consulting Bangladesh Ltd was declared Senior Vice President as a single candidate, elected unopposed.
For Vice President Admin, Md Roman Mia Proprietor One Export and Import was elected with 453 votes, while Md Shahidul Islam Proprietor RSL received 46 votes.
For Vice President Finance, Md Emdadul Haque Miazi Proprietor EP Sourcing was elected with 441 votes, while Marika Bhowmik Proprietor Ama Fashions received 55 votes.
In the Vice President race, Md Fazlul Haque managing director Bilma Fashion Wear Ltd was elected with 464 votes, Enamul Kabir managing director Ensa Clothing Ltd was elected with 442 votes, AKM Saifur Rahman managing partner Messrs Wiki Fix Buying was elected with 470 votes, Md Ashiqur Rahman managing director Nars Sourcing and Fashion Ltd was elected with 434 votes, and Md Abdullah-Al-Mamun managing director Brand Fix Limited was elected with 454 votes.
Mohammad Masud Khan Proprietor Style and Stitch received 53 votes, Md Anarul Mia managing director Narco Fashions Limited received 47 votes, Md Iqbal Hossain managing director BS Sourcing Ltd received 56 votes, and Shah Alamgir Kabir proprietor Royal Shine Sourcing received 83 votes.
BGBA also listed the following as Directors elected unopposed as single candidates: Kamrul Hasan Proprietor Octalink Global Sourcing, Mokhles Hossain Chowdhury Proprietor Navoya Fashion, Md Abdullah Al Mamun Proprietor Sense Garments BD, Md Anarul Hossain Proprietor Asia Link Buying, Enayet Hossain Managing Director Cemex Brainwear Ltd, Riawanul Haque Serni Proprietor CRB Services, Arul Hasnat Mohammad Saleh Ur Rahman Proprietor RN Sourcing, AHM Kamruzzaman Chowdhury Managing Director SMB Textiles Limited, Mosammat Israt Jahan Proprietor Apparel Resource BD, Sheikh Shahinul Islam Partner Indigo Fashion, Md Mahfuzur Rahman Proprietor R and J Buying Company, and Md Shahadat Khaikan Proprietor BDL Inner Wear.
After the preliminary results, the candidates exchanged greetings and accepted the outcome, saying the election was held in a fair and orderly environment, the press release said.
